For the last few weeks I’ve been getting phone calls from a number that I didn’t recognise. When I answered the line would go dead. Calling the number back and there was arecorded message explaining they’d tried to contact me, but not to worry they’d try again! They weren’t wrong. As the calls came through to my mobile I contact Vodafone who told me that they couldn’t help! They could log the calls (if I called them every time it happened) and they would then provide that evidence to the police – but they couldn’t stop the calls – fat lot of use.

Eventually today, after several of the usual attempts I answered it again to find a real live person on the other end! Wow. They claimed to be calling on behanlf of my bank! Having done business with Llyods TSb for a few years I was surprised by this claim and so as soon as I persuaded the lady on the phone that I didn’t even want to listen to her script due to the large number of failed call attempts they had made, I called Lloyds TSB to lodge a complaint.

In recent months I’ve hardened my stance on who I do business with, and if Lloyds had actually hired this call centre to make these calls I’d have been heading to the high street to change my bank. They claim this isn’t the case, but the man I spoke to did say he’d look into it and let me know if they had any involvement. The jury is still out…
