I installed Mozilla sunbird a while back and was impressed with how usable it was for a 0.2 release. It supports online shared calendars so I’m going to try and create one so that friends and family can keep track of my movements. The first steps have been completed and now teaching my parents how to use it is likely to be the biggest hurdle!

I’ve started generating .ics files detailing my work for the month, but Palm’s desktop app won’t import them. For a device such as the Palm to be really useful it should talk every possible format, at least for import, but once again Palm misses the opportunity to make their product more useful. I’ve found some specs for their own datebook format so I might try and write a converter for my work to that format, but I seem to remember that it doesn’t allow entries to pass midnight, which is really useless for the typical entries I need to add. Maybe I’ll just not bother!

Of course it’s not yet available on freeBSD for amd64 so it looks like another app that will live on my laptop for the forseeable future. Oh well…
