Been in Shanghai for a few days now and starting to get more used to it. There seems to be a peretual haze (smog?) over the city and visibility has been very poor the whole time. It gets better at night and the views are better, but still noweher near as good as I’d imagined it would be from the pictures you see in the advertising.

It’s a real contrast to Beijing. A much more modern city with lots of large highways. Despite the extra concrete the traffic jams are just as bad. There are far fewer cycles in evidence and lots more high rises. Been really interesting so far!
