I came downstairs this morning to find that my Sky+ box had died. The normal green light was absent and no number of tries would persuade it to turn on. I’ve had the box for a number of years (over 5 I think) and it has been on my list of things to replace for some time now. So, I rang Darren at Andsat to get a new one! Once again his service was first class and despite me calling at 11am he managed to fit in a visit to supply the new box today – something many companies wouldn’t even have tried. The new box is working and has a 160Gb hard drive for me to try and fill. Wonder how long that will take?

The difference in speed of use is noticeable. Channels now simply change, not think about it for a second or so prior to changing. Accessing the planner is almost instant rather than allowing time to make a cup of tea before appearing. All things considered the failure hasn’t been a big deal and certainly happened at a good time for me.
I’ll say it again, if you live in Crawley and need work done for Sky – contact Andsat 🙂

UPDATE: This link appears to show that my box was one of those affected. The new box is an improvement so I’ll stick with it for now, although the digital out seems slightly flakey at times.
